How to Kickstart your Fitness Journey
The first step is prioritizing God which helps you change your mindset and how you view “exercise.” God wants you to be a good steward over your temple and be healthy instead and out. When I used to hear the word exercise before starting my fitness journey, I would insistently cringe. But exercise isn’t a punishment, instead it’s therapy with so many benefits other than weight loss. It improves your mood, combats some health conditions, promotes better sleep and helps you to think more clearly. Try a few of these tricks/tips to kickstart your fitness journey as well!
Prioritize God
Start your day with God, End your day with God. He’s the one that strengthens you and helps you shift your mindset. Proverbs 3:6 says, in all thy ways acknowledge Him, and He shall direct your path. You should always desire to know what God’s plan is for you because He knows best.
Exercise first thing in the morning
Now wait, I know what you’re thinking! So, hear me out. There is no right or wrong time of day to exercise. But I personally found it very helpful when I started my journey to exercise first thing in the morning because it sets the tone for your day, it helps you make healthier food choices throughout your day, and no one likes to exercise after a long, tiring day.
Set Realistic Goals
Don’t compare your journey to anyone else’s, go at a pace that works best for you. Start slow, walk 10-30 mins a day or a few days a week until you’re comfortable and then increase your time. This isn’t a competition but it’s a journey, slow and steady wins.
Accountability Partner
Exercise with someone who’s patient, encouraging, supportive but doesn’t except excuses. We have goals to crush, and excuses unfortunately won’t help us reach them.
